a5c7b9f00b A teenage boy finds himself recruiteda member of an elite team of pilots by his father. In 2015, 15 years after the enormous catastrophe that killed half of the world population, another crisis has come - the unidentified invaders called "Angels" begin to attack human-kind. Any of their weapons are useless against the so-called "Absolute Terror Field". But now human-kind had created an exception;the ultimate all-purpose humanoid weapon "Evangelion". To operate this exception needs the minds of "Children", 14-year-old juveniles. Shinji Ikari, the only son of the commander-in-chief of the team that administered Evangelion, is selectedthe third of the "Children"…! I watched this on the high rating, and general praise from every corner. Sat through every minute. I waited until the last second of the last episode, thinking, "It must be about to get good now." "It's all going to pay off somehow."

It never came.

The characters are *awful*. Annoying, one-dimensional, poorly constructed, crying hipsters, with only one complex exception. The plot is haphazard. The pacing is horrendous. The storytelling oscillates between robot fighting, teenage drama, and poorly done ennui on the nature of existence. Maybe it's trying to be a statement on depression or the meaning of life, but even that misses so badly it hurts. Even the animations - even for 1995 - are subpar.

Maybe I'm an idiot, or crazy. But there are *great* anime and films out there.

But this isn't one of them. I'm staggered and confused how it got its reputation.

Honestly, my two cents- save 9 hours of your one precious life, and give this one a miss. No matter what you do, it'll be time better spent. Really, there is not much talking about EVA, but I'm fine trying.

If you are into Anime, you already know Evangelion is the Mecha Anime that changed the world something like 15 years ago.

Together with Ghost in the Shell and Escaflowne, they set a new standard about whatever you think is reality, "The Matrix" stems from them.

If you are easy to get emotional about TV series or Anime, DO NOT watch Evangelion.

It's 26 episodes plus two final movies.

Going through all of this, you'll start thinking death and craziness are fine, after all.

The connection with the Dead Sea Scrolls gets worse (read "better") each episode you try to get.

My condolences for your brain, should you wanna take the quest.

It's 11 out of 10.

Alessandro
